How to Use Your Library Genealogy Computer
Notice: The Genealogy Computer allows you two hours to research before it shuts off, and two sessions in one day. Other computers in the library only allow one hour at a time, then you have to log in again.
LOG ON INSTRUCTIONS for: Ancestry.com
- Double click on “Internet Explorer”, icon on the desktop, Column 1 Row 12.
- “Temecula Public Library”
- Library web page comes up.
- If the Library page does not come up
- Close Windows Explorer and return to the desktop.
- Re-double click on “Internet Explorer” Icon.
- Double click on “Internet Explorer”, icon on the desktop, Column 1 Row 12.
- In “Temecula Public Library” page click on “Genealogy” (this page may come up)
- On right side there is a box listing:
- Ancestry.com via Webfeat
- HeritageQuest via Webfeat
- New England Genealogy Society
- Double click on one of them.
- A new page will open, scroll down and select one of the programs below.
- Ancestry.com is 3rd item down.
- HeritageQuest online is 22nd item down.
- You can access HeritageQuest from your home computer. Follow these steps
- Go to “Temecula Public Library” page, click on “Genealogy”
- On Right side there is a box listing: “HeritageQuest” via Webfeat, click on it.
- A new web page will open, scroll down (list of Resources) to Item # 22.
- Click on HeritageQuest, you are now ready to research.
LOG ON INSTRUCTIONS for: New England History and Genealogical Society
- Icon at upper left screen Column 1, Row 3. Double click on NEH&GS icon will bring up the search page in NEH&GS.
- ”New England Ancestry.org”
- Search any of the lists or "Master List". This can be a good search area for the beginner located on the right side of the screen.
